Nvm, it seems you need the driver files for the tablet to activate. This is quite some progress, but I still have to experiment what if I also don't use the commercial driver and just rely on optinput and maybe just using the 4.7.2 cpl. It did at one point show a "Getting Started" screen but it hung shortly after, maybe when wacomd died. Right as I log in and the pen works, it stops working and i still get the familiar "Could not initialize the Driver Interface" error when trying to initialize the cpl. It seems wacomd is pretty garbage and quits after a few seconds.
Anyway I did get the pointer to move with my pen but only for a few seconds. It seems the commercial 4.8.0 driver does not ask for a license after all unlike the older versions. Maybe the latter doesn't require a license? But for either version, I'm ending up with that Driver Interface issue. 4.8.0 didn't spring up any license manager. Oddly enough, the 4.7.2 package popped up a license manager window first asking me where's my Wacom device and it didn't seem to recognize it (probably since I didn't set the serial port to be a Wacom device first?). Unfortunately, I still get the "Could not initialize the Driver Interface" error even with this version. Have to start from square one with reinstalling optional input devices from Overlays 1 and re-configuring X11 input config, but I did get the control panel (wacomcpl-6.5_3 for MIPS3 or wacomcpl-6.5_4 for MIPS4). Ok, managed to copy over the wacom.tar mid-install and then uninstall. I just need the tar from the product and manipulate everything manually. Maybe it's expecting me to extract the wacom.tar via swmgr somehow but I don't want swmgr to follow the installation scripts. The fsck instructions say to now run /usr/sbin/wacom, but I don't have that. Installed the control panel, but it only dropped one file. If anyone has a correct copy of 4.7.2 to get its control panel, please contribute. I tried gzrt on it, but the extracted result's sorta malformed and byte-shifted about.
I tried the Art Pad instructions, but everything stops with getting 4.7.2, because that gzip is corrupted probably due to the copy stored in nekofiles was downloaded in ASCII instead of binary when grabbed from the Wacom FTP while it was still up. I'm on Irix 6.5.26 and I've installed it on my Octane with my Intuos 1 it has taken me 3 minutes to make it works.Īpologies for poking on a dead horse, but I just got a Cintiq 18SX for my O2 and I am getting the issues seen in the YouTube video regarding 4.8.0. Seems like there are a few more wacom drivers. Oh I also just found this in one of the download sites. Would be great if any of you guys could have a look at it and possible point out what I might be doing wrong. I’ve recorded a video that shows what I’m doing to install the drivers. Unfortunately I’ve still had no luck in getting the wacom to run.
